Over thirty years experience as an auto mechanic/technician, service manager
and automotive writer. Cerullo hosted the ABC talk radio network’s weekly Car
Care Clinic for two years. He then switched to WOR Radio 710 where for several
years he fielded listener’s car questions as host of the AUTO SHOW. Cerullo
provided weekly car care segments on the Rambling with Gambling program with
both John A. Gambling and John R. Gambling. He has appeared numerous times on
The Dolan’s Smart Money Radio Program, the Joan Hamburg Show and Bernard Melzer
programs on WOR Radio along with frequent appearances on WEVD’s Bernadette
Michaels show. He was a guest expert on ABC radio’s Kathy Novack Show. The Owen
Span program, Rich Taylor’s Car Corner and Talk America’s Auto World. Cerullo
has been heard nationally in several radio markets with his Coping With Your Car
Series.
Cerullo has provided his unique brand of easy to understanding explanations
of complicated automotive subjects on numerous TV shows including the
Late Night
show with David Letterman. It was David Letterman who first nick named him “THE
CAR GUY” He has been appeared on ABC Nightly News,
Good Day New York, Good
Morning America, CBS TV’s Morning show with Mory Alter, CBS network TV, CNN-FN’s
Take It Personally, USA Live, Fox5 News, The Maury Povitch Show, CNBC’s Smart
Money Program, Channel 7 Eyewitness News, the CNBC Steals and Deals program, PBS
TV, Cable vision’s You Auto Know Program, the Today Show and numerous CNBC
special programs. He has done specials for Metro Guide and various Cablevision
shows. Cerullo’s informative TV segments have also appeared on NBC TV’s Today
program and he was a regular featured guest on Channel 9 TV’s Joe Franklin Show.
Cerullo was the resident car expert on the Fox cable network’s FX Morning
Breakfast Show, then on the Fox network After Breakfast Show, where he reviewed
new cars and delivered car care information for drivers. Cerullo appears
frequently on the Fox 5 TV Good Day New York TV program.
Cerullo has written feature stories on a regular basis for
PARADE
MAGAZINE,
AMI AUTO WORLD Magazine and MOTOR MAGAZINE. He is the creator of MOTOR’S highly
read TRADE SECRETS monthly column. He was a Jesse H. Neal Award finalist in 1999
and 2000. He has twice been award the International Automotive Media Medal in
recognition of his excellence in automotive media. His articles in MOTOR
MAGAZINE have drawn national attention when he exposed the counterfeit auto
parts problem, focused industry attention on the hazards of asbestos in
automotive brakes and fraud in the periodic motor vehicle inspection programs
across the country. His work on the dangers of Carbon Monoxide, Cell Phones,
Road Rage and Drowsy Drivers have won him national acclaim.
Cerullo’s article: ARE YOU A RIPOFF MECHANIC? Alerted the automotive industry
to its own dishonest practices and government efforts to stop them. Cerullo
writes the UNDER THE HOOD column in each issue of AMI AUTO WORLD advising car
owners how best to cope with their cars. His writing has appeared in AUTO WEEK,
MOTOR SCOOP, PARADE MAGAZINE, VANTAGE, READER’S DIGEST in both the national and
international editions, POPULAR SCIENCE, THE POPULAR SCIENCE YEARBOOK,
CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTING MAGAZINE, MEDICAL ECONOMICS, MONEYSWORTH, BROOKLYN
BRIDGE MAGAZINE, AMI AUTO WORLD, NYFD magazine and others. Cerullo has delivered
seminars at New York University, Brooklyn College and taught his AUTO
MAINTENANCE 101 course at the Learning Annex in New York City for several years.
Cerullo has authored a book entitled: WHAT’S WRONG WITH MY CAR? Published by
Penguin/plume, now in it’s fifth printing.
Cerullo is a graduate of Seton Hall University and was for over three
decades, the owner/operator of an auto repair shop and diagnostic canter in
Brooklyn N.Y. He was named to the Mechanic’s hall of Fame in 1977 along with
famed race car mechanic George Bignotti. He is an affiliate member of the
Society of Automotive engineers, former vice president of the International
Motor press Association, has been certified by the National Institute for
automotive Service Excellence (ASE). He is a member of the Board of Directors
the Service Technicians Society (STS). He has served to promote auto mechanic
certification with the National Automotive Technician Certification board and
been a technical adviser to the Kings County District Attorney on automotive
complaints. He has worked as a consultant to the New York Fire Dept. and is the
owner/restorer of a prize wining 1917 American La France fire engine now on loan
to the NYC Fire Museum. Cerullo has received several awards for his educational
work in the auto industry and consumer education.
Cerullo holds membership in: SAE, STS, IMPA, and AFTRA.
