Fred
Bordoff
Fred Bordoff has been a specialist in automotive diagnostics and repairs for
over 30 years. He is currently the owner and president of NYCAT, the New
York Center for Automotive Technology, a state-of-the art facility specializing
in automotive diagnostics and repair, located in Long Island City.
He has also served as co-host of WMCA Radio's "Auto Lab", a weekly call-in
program in New York. He served as auto expert to CNNfn TV, and appeared
regularly as automotive commentator on CNNfn's programs "In the Game" and "The
Most Toys." He publishes the NYCAT News, a professional newsletter for the
automotive industry.
Before founding NYCAT, he was founder and president of Space Diagnostics,
Inc. He is a strong advocate of continuing education and training for automotive
technicians, and of automotive education for the driving public. As a result,
besides serving the public as a repair center, the New York Center for
Automotive Technology offers New York State -approved courses for advanced
certification of experienced technicians, as well as courses for motorists.
Fred has served as a training agent for the New York State Department of
Motor Vehicles since 1981 and has served as consultant in Vocational Education
for the New York City Board of Education. He was an adjunct instructor in
Automotive Technology at the State University of New York at Farmingdale from
1970 to 1978.
Fred Bordoff has served on numerous occasions as automotive expert in court
proceedings and administrative hearings before the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Fred Bordoff is president of the New York State Association of Service
Stations and Repair Shops. He was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the
Gasoline and Automotive Service Dealers Association. He has served in volunteer
advisory positions to numerous civic and educational institutions in order to
promote consumer education and safety for the motoring public, as well as
educational vocational opportunities for youngsters.
Fred Bordoff is a member of the board of trustees of Shorefront Y, and a
board member of the Ditmas Park Association, both in New York City.
