BOMB, AND I'LL BE SHOPPING FOR A CAR WITHIN THE NEXT YEAR OR SO. I'D SURE
LIKE TO OWN A CAR THAT LOOKS LIKE THIS BUT FOR A LESSER PRICE. BYE

My folks bought a '57 T-Bird new, and I owned a '55 from 1972 until 1977.
I grew up LOVING this car.
This, however, is a classic T-Bird with the soul surgically removed. It's
some slick, young designer whiz-kid's idea of a new VW Beetle with two
seats. It's been jelly-bean smoothed so much as to be almost
non-descript...no fins, no chrome, no personality. And the interior-- ecch!
Even the PT Cruiser designers had enough sense to give the interior a
"period" feel while retaining modern functionality.
At least Ford stopped making those horrible overweight boats and slapping
the 'Bird badge on them. Perhaps some day they'll get someone who was
alive in 1955 to design a REAL T-Bird. In the meantime, folks, wait in
line for your overpriced, emasculated yuppie toy... or get a real 'Bird in
reasonable condition for about ,000 less than the dealers are going to
squeeze you for.
Sheesh-- you can't even tell it's a 'Bird without the *&%?#@* emblems!

I have a fully opted out red T-Bird with the white hardtop. I can't tell
you how much I love this car. Do not buy this car if you do not want to
feel like a celebrity. My car has people talking no matter where I go. The
car drives like a dream. The full interior red accents and white top make
my car even more eye catching. I love it when the steering wheel
automatically moves into my favorite position when I get into the car and
lifts out of the way when I exit. A Ford representative told me 2003 will
have heated seats, I haven't missed them though. The boot that covers the
softop when it is down is a pain to install so I rarely use it, but it
does finish it off nicely. The T-bird is all about fun. There isn't
another car I would rather own even if I spent another 20 or 30 grand.
When I was in high school back in the early 70s, I had a friend that owned
a 1957 T-Bird that she used to let me drive. Since then I've always had a
special place in my heart for the early T-Birds. I was really excited when
I heard that Ford was going to reincarnate the T-Bird with new design
drawing on its original roots! From what I've seen so far, I haven't been
disappointed. The 2002 T-Bird is still rare in Dallas at this time and a
really special treat when you see one coming in your direction - it
certainly is a head turner!
